We can carry out Windows upgrades, maintaining your existing files and data as far as possible, or 'Clean Installs', erasing all your existing files, partitioning and formatting the hard drives and generally speeding your system up. Not all operating systems will run on all computers due to the heavy demands of the newer versions, especially Windows Vista, but we will asses and advise you of the suitability of a new operating system for your system. Once Windows has been succesfully installed we connect it to the internet and update it with all the latest security patches and bug fixes.
 
If we advise you that your computer would be unsuitable for a new version of Windows, you may consider upgrading some of your hardware to prolong its useful lifetime. We can also clean re-install you existing operating system, which may solve many speed issues or problems you may have.

Typical Operating system upgrades are to upgrade from Windows XP to one of the Windows Vista options. Windows Vista contains features designed to speed up productivity and internet security. We normally recommend upgrading to Windows Vista for the home user though we can upgrade your PC to any version you wish.

What is included in this service:-

• Collection and re-delivery of your computer, normally the same day if collected before noon. 
• Either
  1. Operating system upgrade, and system configuration maintaining your existing files and programs as far as possible OR
  2. Hard drive format and re-partition, Clean re-installation, configuration of new operating system existing hardware drivers and settings.

What is not included in this service:-

• The Operating system software. This can either be supplied at cost by us or supplied by the you. As an example, Windows XP (Home) is available from around £90 for the upgrade version or £180 for the full version. 
• Initial repairs. Your computer must be in a bootable state for us to carry out the hardware upgrade. If it is not, then the Diagnostic and/or hardware upgrade service may be used in conjunction with this service. 
• Re-installation of additional software, for example "Office" packages or programs. These can be re-installed for an aditional fee, if required, at the same time as the upgrade if the customer supplies the original installation disks. 
• Backups of your data. We do not back-up your data, so please ensure you have saved all important files to floppy disk or CD before we start work on your PC. We offer a back-up service for an extra cost should you require it. We cannot be held responsible for files lost or deleted during work on your computer though we will endeavour wherever possible to leave your files unchanged. Occasionally it may be necessary to delete or over-write files during the process. Booking our service is acknowledgement of these risks.
